For more info on Phantomland check out my journal and gallery.

Some study on (semi)realistic portraits I guess... Much fun was had but I hate myself for wasting hours and hours on pointless stuff like this :--D It hardly suits any promotional purpose either since the style is so different from the comic. Uhhh.

They almost look like JRPG characters, haha. So flawlessly pretty that it starts to feel kind of cheap.
Amber and Elias were easy because their designs have more resemblance to real people. Chie in turn is "vaguely Asian" which was challenging to pull off, and Jon's so bizarre he doesn't look like a person to begin with. I spent eternities tweaking his face.

Photoshop 7.

EDIT: Some small fixes. Thanks for the critique <3

Your description cracks me up. XD

They all turned out really well. As far as promotional purposes go, this could be for Phantomland: The Video Game.

I like how this came out! I especially like how Amber's face turned out. I'm a little concerned about the amount of wrinkles under Jon's eyes though. I went and looked at your other illustrations of him to make sure. Maybe that's what was weird to you?

I adore both of your styles
this looks so professional like it should be a poster

Drawing them realisticly actually can help you out a lot in the end. You can take what you learn from it and apply it to the style you're going to use for the project. It shows a lot of personality too. If you keep this up I'll want to draw fan art T^T
